Melissa Auf der Maur Book Launch and Signing

Saturday, March 21, 2026
Baillie Court, Art Gallery of Ontario

Join Canadian musician Melissa Auf der Maur, former bassist for Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins for the Toronto launch of her new memoir Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A ‘90s Rock Memoir (Da Capo Press). Auf der Maur will be joined in conversation by Jim Shedden, AGO Curator of Special Projects and Director, Publishing, and Sophie Hackett, AGO Curator of Photography, co-curators of her forthcoming AGO exhibition Melissa Auf der Maur: My 90s Photographs. The event is open to all ages and is co-presented by Wavelength Music. Tickets are free and will be available to AGO Members on February 3, and to the Public on February 10.

Rooted in the independent DIY spirit, the event is being hosted at the AGO, where next September Melissa Auf der Maur will debut My ‘90s Photographs, an exhibition of more than 200 photographs. The launch will include a public book signing. Melissa Auf der Maur is the former bassist of rock bands Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins. In 2010 she co-founded Basilica Hudson, a multidisciplinary art center in Hudson, NY, where she lives with her family and magic cats.
